SOMERSET HOUSE LAUNCHES ITS BIGGEST FESTIVE EXTRAVAGANZA

This year, the events team at this riverside London venue off the Strand, has created a smorgasbord of joyful activities perfect for corporate entertaining. After a year away in 2020, Skate returns to Somerset House this winter.  The neo-classical courtyard will once again be transformed into a haven of merriment, with a more open ice-skating space and 40-foot twinkling Christmas tree decked in bespoke decorations from new head sponsor, Champagne house Moët & Chandon.

Skate is back from Wednesday 17th November until 16th January with the option of an exclusive pre-opening event for up to 1,000 guests. Smaller exclusive sessions either before, or during the run, are also available for up to 220 people.

Head partner, Moët & Chandon, will provide Champagne and cocktails in the Skate Lounge and collaborations with Hotel Chocolat and food & drink pop-up legend Jimmy Garcia have, for the first time, opened the venue up to a range of novel events for smaller groups.

Deputy head of commercial events Stephanie Bevan-Moss said “it’s important for us that we can host smaller groups too. And this year people can build their event to suit their budget, incorporating an exciting range of options including the new Beano: The Art of Breaking the Rules exhibition, or a behind the scenes tour of key film locations or historical aspects of the venue. There’s something for everyone.”

Hot chocolate and gifts can be enjoyed from Hotel Chocolat’s ‘Chocmobile’, and corporates can book one-hour masterclasses for groups of 12 – 50 guests at £40pp. Learning about the journey of the bean to the bar in hand, guests will have several samples to try, accompanied with a glass of fizz.

Culinary genius Jimmy Garcia will be hosting ‘Chalet Barragiste,’ a new pop-up eatery inspired by his time in the Alps.  Styled as a cosy chalet, warming Alpine dishes include Côte de boeuf, cheese fondue and raclette. Two rooms for private dining in the West Wing can be booked for 12 – 26 people with set menus for both carnivores and vegetarians and a range of delectable in season dishes. Drinks packages start from £35pp with the Moët package at £60pp.

Larger parties of 100 – 350 people can celebrate in the East Wing which will be stylishly decorated in a modern, festive vibe and complete with DJ and dancefloor, with packages starting at £130pp including food and drinks.
