The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) is set to welcome thousands of international allergy and immunology professionals this weekend as it hosts the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) Congress 2025 – one of the world’s most significant scientific gatherings in the field.

Taking place from 13–16 June, EAACI 2025 will bring over 7,500 attendees to Glasgow, including leading scientists, clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals from more than 100 countries.

Renowned for its scientific excellence, the EAACI Congress also places a strong emphasis on education, public outreach, and social impact. The 2025 edition will include the Clinical Allergy Village – a free, public-facing event at Glasgow Science Centre – offering residents, healthcare professionals, and students a chance to explore the latest in allergy treatment, prevention, and research.

A key theme of this year’s Congress is the growing impact of climate change on allergic and immunological diseases – from rising asthma rates to the lengthening of pollen seasons. Experts will examine how environmental shifts are driving the increased prevalence and severity of conditions such as hay fever, eczema, and food allergies, sharing the latest scientific insights and preventative strategies with both professional and public audiences.

“The EAACI Congress is much more than an annual meeting – it is a vital convergence point for the global allergy and immunology community,” said María Torres, EAACI President. “It is where scientific boundaries are challenged, knowledge is translated into practice, and collaboration drives innovation. By fostering dialogue across disciplines and regions, we accelerate progress for patients and shape a more resilient, sustainable future for healthcare.”

Kathleen Warden, Director of Conference Sales at the SEC, added: “We’re proud to welcome EAACI 2025 to Glasgow for the first time. At the SEC, we have a proven track record in hosting high-profile, high-impact medical and scientific conferences, and this event continues our long-standing partnership with the global association community. Our collaborative approach, working closely with EAACI, Glasgow Convention Bureau, and the wider city, ensures this event will leave a meaningful legacy, including improving awareness of the impact of climate change on wider health.”

The organisation’s decision to choose the SEC in Glasgow underlines the venue and city’s reputation as trusted hosts for major international events. EAACI 2025 is one of 12 major international conferences being hosted at the SEC this year, following recent events including the Congress of the European Atherosclerosis Society,  and the Annual Conference of the European Association of Poison Centres and Clinical Toxicologists, which brought over 2,500 delegates to the city in total.

This year’s congress is more than a gathering – it’s a call to action. In a world grappling with escalating chronic disease and ecological disruption, allergy and immunology experts are stepping into a leadership role. EAACI 2025 offers a compelling lens for media covering health, environment, science, or public policy: how the immune system is responding to our transforming world, and how science can help us adapt.

Over its four-day run, EAACI 2025 is expected to deliver a significant economic benefit of £27m to Glasgow’s economy, £32m for Scotland and £54m for the UK, alongside a lasting knowledge legacy that further strengthens Glasgow’s standing in global medical research, public health, and life sciences.
