Blackpool’s meetings and events take centre stage this season

Confirmed bookings to date in excess of £1.6m

Business events in Blackpool are in full swing this season as The Winter Gardens and Blackpool Conference and Exhibition Centre will bring in excess of £1.6m in economic benefit during October and November.

This success comes as a result of bookings from a diverse range of prominent organisations, further establishing the venue’s reputation as a serious hub for conferences and events in the UK.

The £30m purpose-built Blackpool Conference and Exhibition Centre, which merges seamlessly with the historic Winter Gardens to create the largest venue of its kind in the north of England, welcomed £600,000 worth of large-scale conferences this October, marking the brand-new conference centre’s second autumn of trading a success. Notable wins included the SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Conference and the JD Outdoors Expo. In addition, the venue has confirmed several events for November which are expected to bring in a projected £1m in economic benefit.

The Strictly Highways Annual Meeting 2023, held at the Winter Gardens at the beginning of the month, provided key insights from local government and others in the areas of innovation, skills, net zero, and collaboration, proving that Blackpool is on the road to successfully becoming known as a must-visit resort for academic meetings among industry associations.

Michael Williams, Managing Director, Winter Gardens Blackpool said: “With its versatile facilities and professional team, the Winter Gardens and Blackpool Conference & Exhibition Centre have once again proven to be the ideal choice for organisations seeking a dynamic and reliable venue for their events. The conference centre’s adaptability and ability to cater to a wide range of event sizes and requirements indicates that Blackpool is becoming top choice among event organisers from a number of the UK’s key sectors.”

Julie Vincent, Head of MeetBlackpool, the town’s conference and exhibition arm, said: “We are thrilled to see Blackpool in full swing this autumn, and to see our town bustling in the winter months proves that we are much more than a seasonal hotspot. It shows that business in Blackpool is a year-round pleasure. The Winter Gardens and Conference and Exhibition Centre have always been a symbol of excellence and versatility, and we look forward to witnessing first-hand the positive impact these events will have on the local community.”
