Ai Weiwei’s ‘Making Sense’ opens at the Design Museum

Private tours and event packages available

World renowned artist, Ai Weiwei’s major exhibition ‘Making Sense’ has opened at the Design Museum with clients able to take advantage of hosting a dinner or drinks reception under his ‘Coloured House,’ which is in situ in the iconic triple height Atrium. Private tours of the exhibition for up to 20 people can also be incorporated into events at the museum.

Developed in collaboration with Ai Weiwei, the exhibition is the first to present his work as a commentary on design and what it reveals about our changing values. The show mixes recent works with new commissioned pieces, inviting guests into a meditation on value and humanity, art, and activism.

The Design Museum is offering a tailored drinks reception package to help clients design the perfect immersive reception to tie in with Ai Weiwei’s exhibition. The package is available for evening events and features bespoke drinks and canapés, and production elements, courtesy of two of the museum’s approved suppliers – By Word of Mouth and Wise Productions.

By Word of Mouth have created a fusion menu that ‘presents choices from Ai Weiwei’s geographical past and present in harmonious discord’ with options including prawn & ginger dumpling, sticky beef, spring onion & chilli wontons, aromatic duck and Asian vegetable slaw. Upgrades including taster plates or a food bar are also available.

As part of the package, Wise Productions are on hand to manage the different production elements for events including lighting and set design, a bespoke bar, speech and background music PA, plasma screens, dancefloors, and projection.

Livia Puggini, Head of Commercial Hire & Events at the Design Museum, comments: “Ai Weiwei is one of the most significant and recognised artists working today and to be hosting his exhibition at the Design Museum is incredibly exciting for us and our clients. With a more concerted push from corporates to create impactful and engaging live event experiences that reach new audiences and deliver on ROI, the chance to enjoy a private viewing of Ai Weiwei’s exhibition or to host an event under the ‘Coloured House’ in our atrium, is a fantastic, limited time only opportunity.”

Ai Weiwei’s ‘Making Sense’ exhibition runs until 30 July at the Design Museum. Contact the team for more information and to enquire by calling 020 3862 5907.
