The Resort’s ESG Impact Report for 2025 highlights environmental and community achievements

Wyboston Lakes reduced its annual energy usage by nearly 3 million kW hours in 2025 and more than 95 per cent of its electricity now comes from renewable sources.

At the same time, the Resort and its guests raised more than £35,000 for local charities while avoiding the generation of 73 tonnes of CO₂ emissions in the first year of its Room2Give scheme.

More than 3,500 solar panels have been installed on the site helping the resort to generate its own electricity.

These are just some of the results highlighted in Wyboston Lakes Resort’s newly published comprehensive and detailed ESG Impact Report on its activities in 2025.

The wide-ranging report looks in depth, not only at the Resort’s many innovative initiatives under its philosophy of ‘More Sustainable, No Apology,’ but also at the strides it has made in environmental conservation, social responsibility and governance practices.

Room2Give offers guests staying for more than one night the opportunity to choose to support one of three local charities instead of opting for a room clean. By displaying a colour coded door hanger selecting their preferred charity, a donation is made to the Room2Give fund.

Louisa Watson, Marketing Director and Sustainability Lead added “Room2Give has not only generated valuable benefits for both the environment and charities, the scheme has also created such great interest in our industry that we have now made it available to the wider hospitality sector with our support.”

More sustainability

The report also notes that the site has achieved zero to landfill for the last 11 years and that through collaboration, 88 per cent of its supply chain is now engaged in sustainability assessment and helping to reduce the resort’s Scope 3 emissions.

Reflecting on the year, CEO Steve Jones says: “2025 has been a year of significant advancement for us. These steps are helping us reduce our carbon footprint, helping us to make good progress to achieve Net Zero for Scopes 1 and 2 by the end of 2027. But we still have a considerable way to go and are committed to continue until we reach our targets.”

The report also highlights the resort’s role and contribution to its local community as an employer and local business. It spent £3.7m with local suppliers last year, and continued support for local charities and grassroots sport. It employs more than 250 people, retained 75 per cent of them (well above the hospitality sector average) and 116 team members were trained via the Wyboston Walkways programme.

He added “This report shows how hospitality can deliver measurable environmental and social impact alongside strong commercial performance. That is because sustainability is now fully embedded into our strategy and operations — not a standalone initiative.

“Our latest initiative, the Room2Give Charter, is a clear indication of our approach. We want to share our ideas and experience within our industry and lead it in increased collaboration to make the whole hospitality sector more sustainable.”
