Somerset House sets its sights on summer Award winning alfresco destination launches summer packages

Somerset House, Home of Cultural Innovators and winner of Best Venue with Outside Space at the London Venue & Catering Awards, is offering the opportunity to host private events on its River Terrace this summer.

Located in the centre of the city, the River Terrace is one of the capital’s largest alfresco spaces, perfect for entertaining. Set against the backdrop of Somerset House’s 18th century facade and with sweeping views across the Thames, it is a prime spot for summer celebrations for up to 500 guests and has a roster of repeat clients who are drawn to the venue’s reputation for diversity and innovation.

For larger parties, the alfresco space can also be combined with exclusive hire of the Somerset House Terrace Bar with San Miguel, which opens on 27 March, enabling a total standing capacity of 800.

As a wet weather contingency, the impressive Seamen’s Hall is also included in the hire fee to give organisers peace of mind.

New for 2024, Jimmy Garcia Catering is headlining the menu for the alfresco space and has designed a mouth-watering menu for events, too. Drawing on Jimmy’s Spanish and London heritage, canapés will include Big Mac aged beef tartare, ‘Big Mac’ sauce, pickles, confit egg yolk, toasted brioche croute; La latteria ricotta, chilli and orange fermented hot London honey, seeded cracker; and Moxon’s smoked mackerel, pickled cucumber jelly, croustade, dill. Bigger bites and handhelds will be headlined with Lamb merguez hot dog, chermoula mayo, pickled romero peppers; Spicy lamb tacos, fresh jalapeno, sour cream, coriander; and Pistachio and mortadella pizzette, stracciatella.

This alfresco menu starts from £84 + VAT per person, which includes 8 canapes together with beer, wine and soft drinks.

Guests can also enhance their experience with private views and unique experiences connected to Somerset House’s innovative and dynamic cultural programme such as The Lore of LOVERBOY and the renowned Summer Series with American Express – making the venue a popular choice for progressive corporates.
