Museum of London Docklands appoints Bovingdons as new catering partner

The Museum of London Docklands has revealed that Bovingdons will be its new innovative catering partner for the next five years following a competitive tender process. Bovingdons has taken over the museum’s café and will provide catering exclusively for daytime events, as well as becoming part of the preferred evening catering list at both the Docklands site and the Museum of London.

Bovingdons has over 30 years of experience delivering exceptional food, seamless service, and trusted event delivery, with 15 years spent working at fixed sites, many of which are historical venues. As the Museum of London Dockland’s catering partner, Bovingdons will focus on sourcing the best locally sourced, sustainable food to create innovative menus across the café and its event catering operation.

Sustainability is a big focus for the Docklands team with several initiatives in place to ensure the museum’s impact on the environment is reduced to an absolute minimum, and it was important that the chosen caterer demonstrated their sustainability credentials. Bovingdons prides itself on being an ethical and responsible partner and whether it’s using wasted coffee beans as compost to help grow vegetables to be used in the kitchen or sourcing only certified suppliers to have full traceability over the supply chain, clients can be confident that sustainability and protecting the environment will play a big part in this new catering partnership.

Sarah McQueen, Assistant Head of Commercial Services at the Museum of London, said: “We are thrilled to have Bovingdons on board to support the delivery of catering in the café, as well as providing catering exclusively for daytime events at the Museum of London Docklands. The tender process was incredibly competitive and Bovingdons were chosen not just for their commendable focus on sustainability, but for their experience working with historical venues and their incredibly high standard of service and expert team.

“Bovingdons will also take their place on our preferred evening catering list at both Docklands and the Museum of London and with the recent return of events, we cannot wait to bring this partnership to life and deliver memorable event experiences for our guests.”

Frans Kobus, Managing Director at Bovingdons, says: “We are delighted to have won the contract to provide catering at the Museum of London Docklands. There are not many venues in Canary Wharf that can offer the variety and scope of spaces that the museum can and we’re incredibly excited at the prospect of delivering events and catering here. Our team have demonstrable experience working with historic venues, such as Fulham Palace and Nonsuch Mansion, and it’s fantastic to add such an unusual and diverse location as the Museum of London Docklands to our portfolio. .

“The scope of events that can be accommodated in the museum with its incredible range of flexible event spaces is hugely exciting for us! Being able to cater for the different levels of an event – from a client’s daytime DDR to their three-course dinner, will really enable the team to showcase their talent for creating standout food experiences, and we’re very much looking forward to some alfresco catering utilising the museum’s fantastic outside spaces this summer.”

Bovingdons has also been named as the Museum of London Docklands’ chosen caterer for Christmas this year, and discussions are already underway on new, exciting packages to celebrate the festive season.
