Hi, please introduce yourself! What’s your name and what do you do?
Jo Goodey, I am a freelance Events Consultant and Senior Lecturer in Event Management, and Programme Leader of the International Event Management Masters at the University of Greenwich.
What are you most excited about in taking part in the Sustainable Events Show 2025?
Meeting event organisers and innovators in the events industry, who are leading the way in approaches to sustainability within the events industry. Learning about new products and services, which support sustainable implementation in events. Drawing from the experience to build case studies and examples which can be embedded into module content and course curriculums on our undergraduate and post graduate event management degree programmes.
Eager to discover more about Carbon Neutral Goals at the Show. At the University of Greenwich, we have embedded a certified carbon literacy training course into our modules on both our undergraduate Event Management and Innovation BA Hons degree and our postgraduate International Event Management MA, ensuring all our students graduate with a keen understanding of carbon management and reduction in events and festivals.
At the Show, I want learn more about Audience Engagement. On our new Delivering a Sustainable Event module, our students produce and deliver a sustainable event for a charity client; in doing so students not only look at practice sustainability planning and also look at behavioural sciences to consider how event design and activities can help engage and educate event audiences in sustainable practices and ultimately change behaviours.
Best Live event (concert, etc) you’ve attended?
Shambala Festival, as they have been industry leaders in terms of embedding sustainability as a core approach to the event design, management and production.
