De Vere Tortworth Court raises £2,500 for charities

De Vere Tortworth Court, part of De Vere’s collection of historic mansion house estates and distinctive contemporary hotels and event destinations, has raised £2,540 for British Ukrainian Aid, Children’s Hospice South West, and Hospitality Action.

The hotel team took part in three activities to raise the funds. This included cycling a total of 402km- the distance from London to Paris –  on a stationary bike in reception. Members of the hotel team each took it in turns to cycle part of the distance with an aim to complete the journey in 17 hours. The team managed to finish the route in 13 hours and 40 minutes raising a total of £390 which will be donated to the British Ukrainian Aid which provides assistance and medical aid to vulnerable individuals suffering from the war and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.

The hotel also raised £338.40 for Hospitality Action through raffle ticket sales at their Annual End of Year Colleague Award Ceremony. The team had the opportunity to win several exciting prizes including hotel stays, shopping vouchers and Apple Watches while raising money for Hospitality Action which offers vital assistance to all who work or have worked within hospitality in the UK.

Raphael Herzog, General Manager at De Vere Tortworth Court raised £1,812 for Children’s Hospice South West which provides palliative, respite, end of life and bereavement care for life-limited and terminally ill children and their families from the South West England region.

Raphael raised the money through Jail & Bail Bristol 2022, a fundraising initiative whereby nominated supporters are arrested, charged with their crimes, and placed on trial. Raphael was one of a dozen defendants who found themselves facing a ‘no nonsense’ judge, in what used to be Bridewell Police Station in Bristol, where he was accused of failing to admit that he is a workaholic. Donations from charitable colleagues, friends, family, business partners and customers, set at a minimum of £999, helped to bail him out.

Raphael commented: “We are delighted to make these donations to three fantastic charities – British Ukrainian Aid, Children’s Hospice South West, and Hospitality Action. I’m very proud of my team who are always looking for ways to support our local communities and charities close to their hearts, and I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our guests and supporters who helped us to raise the money.”
