Crunchyroll, the ultimate home for anime worldwide and home to one of the world’s largest dedicated anime libraries, partnered with Outernet London and Kru Live to deliver a free immersive fan experience as part of Ani-May, its month-long global celebration of anime.
Produced by Kru Live, with partners Outernet, The Multiple Agency, Evolve OOH and Omnicom, the activation ran from Friday 22 May to Sunday 24 May at Outernet’s Now Trending space on Charing Cross Road. Outernet’s in-house studio team created the large-scale screen content for the experience.
Fans got to step inside the worlds of Blue Lock, My Hero Academia and Solo Leveling through interactive games, and got to take home Crunchyroll goodies and prizes.
Visitors took part in a two-player motion game on the big screen, competing for the high-score, with top scores displayed on a live leaderboard. They also had the opportunity to create personalised anime-style playing cards at a themed photobooth, try their luck on a claw grabber machine to win pin badges and receive tote bags filled with Crunchyroll branded goodies.
SJ Benham, CEO, Kru Live, said: “Crunchyroll created a brilliant opportunity for fans to get closer to the anime worlds they love. Outernet was the perfect setting for an experience of this scale, combining high-impact screens, interactivity and a real sense of cultural energy. We’re proud to have played our part in producing an activation that brought Ani-May to life in such a memorable and accessible way.”
To kick off the event, The Multiple Agency organised a private session attended by national, consumer and anime-enthusiast press, as well as creators specialising in anime and events content.
As part of Crunchyroll’s Ani-May, the partnership brought long-time fans and curious new-comers together to celebrate and learn about the cultural tour-de-force that is anime in a unique experience in one of London’s most culturally visible spaces.
Over 50,000 episodes of anime are available to watch on Crunchyroll.
