Connection Crew CIC Becomes First Events Crewing Company to Certify as B Corporation

London social enterprise becomes UK’s first events crewing company to join global movement of certified B Corp companies using business as a force for good — achieving a score of 103.8

Connection Crew, the London-based social enterprise powering events, film & TV, and live production across the UK, today announces it has achieved B Corporation certification. It is the first events crewing company to achieve B Corp status.

Verified by B Lab, the organisation behind the global B Corp movement, the certification recognises that Connection Crew meets high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability, and has expanded and updated its legally embedded commitment to purpose alongside profit. The company achieved a B Corp score of 103.8, significantly exceeding the 80-point threshold required for certification.

Founded in 2005 as part of The Connection at St Martin’s in Trafalgar Square, Connection Crew was established to address homelessness through paid employment and training. Over the past two decades, the social enterprise has grown from a small crew of six into one of the UK’s leading crewing companies, and has generated more than 300,000 hours of paid, living-wage work for over 508 people affected by homelessness.

Connection Crew’s certification comes at a time when both the climate crisis and widening social inequality are reshaping expectations of how businesses operate. In the events and production industries, sustainability and responsible procurement are increasingly recognised as central to long-term resilience. Connection Crew’s model demonstrates how service providers and agencies can embed measurable social and environmental impact into core delivery.

Connection Crew CIC is a long-standing member of Social Enterprise UK, People + Planet verified, and a multi-year Pioneers Post and NatWest SE100 award winner. The organisation holds ISO9001:14001 and is listed on the BAFTA Albert directory. In 2022, it became a London Living Wage Employer. In 2025, it conducted a Theory of Change and joined the Crisis Homelessness Alliance.

Warren Rogers, Director of Connection Crew, said:

“For 20 years we’ve been asked a simple question: can great service and great impact go hand in hand? The answer is always yes — and that they must. B Corp Certification is recognition of the commitment shown by our crew, office, in-house production team, partners, and clients — proving decisions, such as who you book to build or deliver your event, can create meaningful impact while maintaining high delivery standards.”

B Corp Certification assesses the entirety of a company’s operations across governance, workers, community, environment and customers. The process requires rigorous evidence submission and independent verification, alongside legal commitment to stakeholder governance. For Connection Crew, the certification formalises a mission that has been embedded since its inception and expanded in recent years to include stronger environmental aims, offerings, and reporting.

Charlotte Scotland, ESG, Data & Communications Manager and Connection Crew’s B Corp Lead, said:

“As a social enterprise, people have always been central to our work. Since 2020, we’ve deepened our environmental commitments alongside our social mission. Achieving B Corp certification reflects how people and planet are built into how we work, how we measure performance, and how we plan for the future.”

Connection Crew now joins a global community of more than 10,000 Certified B Corporations across 102 countries. The UK is home to the largest and fastest-growing B Corp community in the world, with over 2,600 companies including The Guardian, Patagonia, Tony’s Chocolonely and The Big Issue.

Chris Turner, CEO of B Lab UK, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Connection Crew to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies committed to changing how business operates and demonstrating that it can be a force for good. Connection Crew exemplifies how businesses in the events and production sectors can combine commercial excellence with measurable social and environmental impact.”

Connection Crew CIC remains focused on strengthening longer-term employment pathways for people affected by homelessness, advancing environmental performance across its operations, and innovating in circular event delivery through its in-house production team, Stitch. Recent events industry accolades include Shortlisted for Best Crew: Festival Supplier Awards 2025, and Highly Commended for Best Live Event Supplier: Access All Areas Awards 2024.
