Iconic London events venue Church House Westminster is the latest industry organisation to join a formidable line-up of corporate members at the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events (APPG for Events).
A powerful vehicle for shaping the future of the UK’s events industry from within parliament, Church House’s membership only strengthens the APPG’s ability to champion the needs of the industry to those in a position to deliver meaningful change. The net zero venue joins a host of influential venues, DMOs, associations and organisations already supporting the APPG to highlight the value of the events industry to policymakers, including beam, Manchester Central, the Meetings Industry Association and Experience Oxfordshire, to name just a few.
Reflecting on Church House’s membership, Stephanie Maurel, CEO of Church House Westminster, said: “Since its creation, the APPG for Events has played a crucial role in delivering positive change for our industry. It’s collaborative, it’s effective and it’s impactful. As the CEO of a venue which prides itself on its innovative and inclusive approach, it felt only natural to join such a proactive, forward-thinking and cooperative alliance to advocate for our sector at the heart of government. Events are all about teamwork so, with industry representatives and Parliamentarians working together, I know we’ll build a flourishing events industry fit for the future.”
Founded in 2011, the APPG is a cross-party group made up of members from both Houses of Parliament, and acts as the event industry’s voice in Westminster.
A spokesperson for the APPG for Events said: “We’re delighted Church House has joined us as a corporate member. Stephanie’s reputation as a pioneering, compassionate and skilful leader of the venue precedes her, and her insights and experience will be invaluable to our collective efforts.
“Events aren’t only important for our economy, they make a rich contribution to our social and cultural lives, our standing on the international stage, and our ability to build relationships over shared experiences. It’s therefore vital we keep the events industry high on the parliamentary agenda and, while we’ve made great progress strengthening collaboration between the events industry and policymakers, we can’t wait to take this even further now with Church House’s support.”
PR & Communications agency Davies Tanner, through its The Business of Events Think Tank and Advocacy Network, manages the APPG and acts as a Special Advisor to the group.
