The Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) welcomed the Standard Chartered Great City Race on Tuesday 22 July 2025, as thousands of runners flocked to Artillery Garden for the 20th edition of this iconic event. The sold-out 5K corporate team challenge, got thousands moving through the heart of the City of London, passing famous landmarks like St Paul’s Cathedral and the Bank of England.
With over 5,000 participants setting off from the HAC’s iconic five-acre garden, the atmosphere buzzed as teams took on the spirited 5K route amid historic surroundings. More than just a race, this year’s edition supported Futuremakers by Standard Chartered, a global initiative progressing youth economic inclusion worldwide.
One third of each entry fee was donated to the Standard Chartered Foundation, and all funds raised for Futuremakers by Standard Chartered were matched by Standard Chartered PLC, delivering even greater impact through matched philanthropy.
This year’s event underscored the race’s legacy. Founded in 2005, the Great City Race celebrated two decades as a fixture for corporate teams across the capital. Recent participation figures highlight its enduring appeal. In 2023, 405 companies and 5,592 participants took part, and in 2024, 4,899 runners finished, showing consistent enthusiasm leading into 2025.
Sarah McQueen, Catering and Events Director at the HAC, commented: “We’re always delighted to welcome the Standard Chartered Great City Race to the HAC, and this year was no exception. It’s a real pleasure to see our grounds filled with such positive energy and purpose. Supporting Futuremakers is something we’re incredibly proud of, and it’s inspiring to see so many people come together to make a difference. It was fantastic to open our gates once again to runners, supporters, and volunteers for a day that truly celebrated community spirit, wellbeing, and collective action for a meaningful cause.”
