A day in the life of a photographer during lockdown

Martin James gives us his insight into how lockdown has been for him.

“The Covid-19 outbreak has ripped through our world, leaving destruction and loss of life in its wake while also posing some severe challenges for those who remain healthy. With around 20% of the world’s population currently in lockdown, circumstances are forcing people to adapt as best as possible – but for many, this is much easier said than done.

[My life is] OK currently! For my sanity’s sake, it feels like it makes the most sense to just be a good neighbour, see family and friends on the internet, and try to keep it together. Thank God my local gym has loaned me a selection of weights for home training! The pandemic has obviously had a negative impact on my workload. As of right now, I’m taking the time at home to develop some projects I’ve been working on and learn some new skills such as website development, coding and flower arranging [I’m joking].

Unfortunately, I think a lot of photographers will be unemployed for quite a while even after the corona virus starts to decline. I’m so lucky I have work piling up for next year already and in the meantime I have some personal projects to finish that I’m super excited about. I think it’s a lofty expectation that things will return to normal so quickly. Stay safe, stay home and hopefully see you all soon.”
